The Woldar Family Foundation is the creation of Edwin & Shirley Woldar.

Both were born and raised in Brooklyn—Edwin in Williamsburg, Shirley in Bushwick—and both came from hardworking immigrant homes. After their marriage, Edwin went to work for the financial company Dreyfus, where he spent thirty-five years. Recognizing their obligation to help those in need (tzedukah), the Woldars conceived of and developed The Woldar Family Foundation in 2002.

Edwin and Shirley Woldar passed down the tradition of tzedukah to their children, Paul and Jay, who now oversee the foundation. Today, the Woldar Family Foundation helps fund numerous charities with varying missions. No organization is too large or too small to receive donations from the foundation.

Among the foundation’s main concerns is the education of today’s youth. So, in addition to aiding existing charities to help the needy, the Woldar Foundation also funds scholarships for students with limited means.

The Woldar Family Foundation has been supporting charitable institutions since 2003, and plans to aid in the betterment of the human condition for many years to come.
